How to Create Momentum

Creating momentum challenges us all at some point in our lives, doesn’t it?

Then, right when we seem to have it all “figured out,” we feel our momentum shift as we struggle to hold on to it.

The main obstacle to maintaining momentum is that too often, we try to create forward motion, while at the same time trying to keep things from changing too much.

Check out this brief 3 minute video I did on how to create momentum in real life.

(If you can’t see the video in your feed, go here to view it at YouTube)

In order to create (and maintain) momentum, we must throw off the old restraints.  We have to embrace discomfort until it becomes comfortable. We must imagine what we have never imagined before.

That’s where the hard work comes in; but at the same time, imagination and focused effort make up the playground where all the fun in life is had!

Momentum at Karmic Kappuccino

Renegades, I am SO excited about the next few months!  As I have mentioned before, I have been transitioning and clarifying the purpose of this blog, and I finally feel like we are really creating some amazing momentum.

You may not realize it right now; but we stand at the edge of extraordinary, balanced over amazing, and breathless with wonder! (so buckle yourself in for the next phase)

Based on your responses to the recent survey I conducted, I am going to continue to tweak the content I provide to you.

A few months ago, my good friend, Sherrie (the Niche Clarity Coach) encouraged me to develop videos.  Because it made me uncomfortable, I put off doing so.

Then, your responses to the survey came in! The number one request from you?

You guessed it…VIDEO!

Now, as I said, it is a little bit of a stretch for me. I have no production or visual media experience, so I guess I will be following my own advice to “embrace the discomfort” until it becomes comfortable.

That said, I’m going to be doing more video posts. I am writing and recording a very special video series for you sharing some of the main insights of my book, An Imperceptible Spark: Finding the Courage to Live a Life of Joy.

See how nice I am?  I’m not even making your read it! (To those of you who have already read it, you get extra credit!)

So, please go to our YouTube channel, ”friend” me and subscribe so that you’ll always be alerted to new videos.

You Can Help

Here are a few ways you can help me to create more powerful video resources for you.

  • Comment, Comment, Comment – Share your thoughts on YT (and/or on the blog) so that I know better what connects with you guys.
  • Connect – E-mail (Steve@karmickappuccino.com) or message me with suggestions for topics or questions you would like to see videos on.
  • Compartir (“to share” in Spanish. Sorry, but I wanted an alliterated list…I can be anal like that.) – Share your favorite videos on Twitter, Facebook, G+, etc., and spread the word.

I am looking forward to the next few months.  Things are really getting fun! We have spent the last six months or so building a community at this blog. Now, I am looking forward to creating even better, more powerful, content for you.

I am working on new features (like video series and a workbook to go with the “Spark” book, as well as, some other great goodies).

Your input and contributions comprise the “fuel” that powers this train. I can’t overstate the importance of your contributions and what they mean to me.  Thank you!

    Steve,
This is really great stuff and you know what? I think the video is GREAT!  I love momentum because if we stay in our safe little box, then nothing will ever happen…not only that, you won’t get to experience that amazing stuff which happens right at the intersection of fear and doubt – it’s where the sparks really start to fan a fire.

Thanks for your support, Shane.  I love that comment…the intersection of fear and doubt. You are right, that’s where the magic happens.  So glad you have connected with me and I appreciate your input.

    Awesome stuff Steve!
I actually have subscribed to your YT, and have also seen your video as well. I think it’s great stuff.

I have been playing around with the camera myself, but I think I suck at it! No, like majorly SUCK AT IT!! :) However you have showed me that in order to diffuse the discomfort of my fears, I simply have to jump in there and just do it! Now, that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen right away or overnight. :D I mean, I still think that I suck at it. :) But, I’ll keep working at it. When the “Ahhhh’s” and the “Ummm’s” stop… I may post one. I posted not to long ago and shared on the last blog (Kingskidd) that I enjoyed singing. One of my other blogger friends told me that I should post one of those type of videos. Who knows? Maybe that will happen as well. I guess it’s time to turn up the momentum!

As always, great post my friend. You always encourage and inspire me through your work. I love that about Karmic Kappuccino. Keep up the great work my friend. :)

      Thanks, Deeone!

I will look forward to your first video! :)

I am so thankful that my work inspires you.  You are an inspiration as well.  We’ll keep each other going.

    Hi Steve!
Thanks for the mention! Hey, I’m glad you’re gaining a lot of momentum. Video is a great way to get people to know you. I’m also glad your readers confirmed what I thought! I bet a whole new audience will grow for you. Good work. :)

Thanks, Sherrie.  I’m looking forward to how things develop.  Looking to learn some better production skills too….so we’ll see how it goes.

    Hi Steve,

    Great goings on!

An important video message here. Embrace the uncomfortable. Let go and grow. I just started a Facebook Fan Page, devoted strictly to my quotes. After seeing 5000 friends on my personal account my ego whines a bit taking in the “6″ next to my Ryan Biddulph Page….lol. Super uncomfortable at times, but I remind myself I am not starting over. I am releasing on a cluttered Fan page and personal profile to make room for a clear, focused and directed Fan Page, and the Universe has ways and means to grow it I know not of. So I continue to pull back, embrace the feelings, slow myself down to remain present, and onward, and upward.

I look forward to seeing more videos buddy, keep up the great work!

    Ryan

I can certainly understand that, Ryan.  I can relate to the feelings and “stress” created by the expectations we put on ourselves.  I’ve gone through some of that here on the blog.  Kinda “next step” anxiety.

It is a great reminder that the nurturing universe is ever-present to bring to me the experiences, people and resources for the work that I am uniquely prepared to do. I just have to trust and allow it.

Ahhhh….can already feel the stress melting away! :)

Great video, Steve-very real-and you say it’s outside your comfort zone? :-) It’s funny, just today I wrote in my response to a reader’s comment that baby steps work just as well at getting you started. Then I saw your video. Sometimes the world is a cosmic place. :-)

    Great message.

    • http://www.KarmicKappuccino.com Steve Rice

Thanks for your constant encouragement, Cathy.  It is much appreciated.  I look up to you for the work you have done and the business you’ve created for yourself.  It’s so great to have people in my network who have “done it” (whatever their business is) and been successful.

I have noticed the “cosmic” attributes of the universe lately too…synchronicity is happening all around me.  Very interesting how that works.

      • http://simplystatedbusiness.com Cathy Miller

See-flattery like that will get you everything! :-) Thanks, Steve.

    Yeah!!
We are alike on many levels! Loved the video.

The only way we can achiee the goals that we have for ourselves is to take that first step.
“Our lives begin just outside our comfort zone…”

    Great stuff. Keep it coming!

Thank you! I will definitely keep pushing (and sharing here what I learn).
